Dallas eliminates defending champs
The Dallas Demons came back from a 20-point deficit to beat two-time defending champion Charleston 76-72 and advance to the Season 28 championship round.
Dallas trailed 63-51 going into the final quarter, but kept chipping away at the lead until a Momadou Zongo (22 points) 3-pointer finally gave the Demons a 69-68 lead. The game went down to the final time unit. A Chuck Rysz tip-in for Charleston tied the game 72-72 with one time unit left, when the veteran Zongo, the league's most recent Hall of Famer, canned a trey at the buzzer, was fouled and hit a free throw to win the game.

MBA PLAYOFFS ROUND ONE
In what can only be described as a shocker, the Seattle Stampede eliminated the Houston Iguanas two games to none to advance to their first championship series since Season 14.
Seattle opened up the series with a72-66 road win behind the 23-point, 5-rebound, 5-blocked shots effort of rookie center Tom "The Bomb" Kondla. And showing that Game 1 was no fluke, the Stampede seized control of the first-round clincher right out of the gate and went on to a 88-73 triumph. Forward Kush Kush Hotahey was the MVP in this contest for Seattle, with 18 points and six blocked shots.
The other series is proving to be a barn burner, as expected, with Dallas dominating Game 1 and two-time defending champ Charleston holding serve on its own home court. The next game is the decider and some might contend that it is the title contest.
Mamodou Zongo of Dallas (20 points) and Chuck Rysz of Charleston (16 points, 5 rebounds) shared MVP honors in Game 1. Rookie of the Year Jimsy Redfern was MVP for the Rebels in Game 2 with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 blocks, an assist and a steal.

Season 28--Regular Season Update
The two teams from Texas...the Dallas Demons and the Houston Iguanas won their respective divisions to get home court advantage in the upcoming MBA playoffs.
Finishing second to Houston in the East was the two-time defending champion Charleston Rebels, while the Seattle Stampede, picked to finish last in the West in the preseason polls, shocked the hoops world to edge San Jose on the last game of the season to make the playoffs.
Thus, Charleston (7-3) will take on Dallas (9-1) in the best of three round one semis, while the upstarts from Seattle (6-4) go up against Houston (8-2).
Dallas, which last won a title in Season 21, returns to the playoffs after a one year absence. The Demons are the only playoff team to feature a pair of All-MBA players in Mamadou Zongo and Max Payne .
Houston last won in Season 12, and also gets back to the post-season after missing last year. The Iguanas boast the league's best rebounder in Crash D. Bordz and rookie sensation Sunny Osiris.
Charleston has league MVP forward Boone Doggle, just added to the Hall of Fame. Doggle joins fellow Hall of Famer Jonny Cockaroo and Rookie of the Year forward Jimsy Redfern to give the Rebels a formidable front line in their effort to win a third-straight title. Only Philadelphia, in Seasons 22, 23 and 24 has completed the triumvirate.
Seattle has never won a title and last appeared in the playoffs in Season 25. All-League point guard Horn E. Goatweed led the league in scoring and will retire after the playoffs, along with two other Stampede guards, so it appears that it's now or never for the upstart club. Forward Kuch Kuch Hotahey destroyed the blocked shots record of 38, swatting away 46 shots this year.

CHARLESTON REPEATS AS CHAMPS
VETERAN HALL OF FAMER JONNY COCKAROO LEADS THE WAY
SAN JOSE--The Charleston Rebels led from start to finish on the way to capturing their second consecutive championship, besting the San Jose Fighting Amigos 61-58 in a hard-fought Game 5 decider.
Tenth-year Hall of Fame center Jonny Cockaroo led the charge for the victors, scoring 10 of his game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter, where the big guy also snagged three rebounds and blocked two shots down the stretch.
The Rebels harassed the Amigos into 8 steals and just 46 percent shooting, outdoing the San Jose defensive stalwarts at their own game.
Still, San Jose closed the gap to 59-56 with six time units remaining when Cock A. Doodledoo (16 points) finished a 3-point play with a free throw. Four ticks later, 6-11 forward Tug Hershorts made it a one-point game, scoring inside for the Amigos.
But Charleston's All-League forward, Boone Doggle, completed the scoring with a bucket with one time unit remaining to seal the title for the Rebels.
The game started with an offensive burst, with Charleston getting 25 first-quarter points to 17 for San Jose, but then settled into another defensive struggle between the two titans.
The Rebels thus became the first Dave Masterson-owned club to capture back-to-back championships in MBA history. It's also the third consecutive DM team to win the coveted crown, an unprecedented accomplishment in league annals.
San Jose Hall of Fame forward Sagittal Occlusal was named Playoff MVP for the second time in three seasons to go with the three regular-season MVP awards he has garnered in as many years.

Finals Game 2
SAN JOSE TIGHTENS DEFENSE AND SERIES
CHARLESTON -- The San Jose Fighting Amigos, which led the MBA in team defense by holding opponents under 60 points a game, kept Charleston from scoring even 50 in Game 2. The result was a 51-48 win for San Jose, evening up the MBA Finals series at one game each.
Only one Rebel player managed double figures in this contest, with Sammy Zazooch getting 16. MBA fans realize that to win in the MBA, a team should put up at least 50 shots in a game. San Jose held Charleston to 39 attempts.
But although the Fighting Amigos had three double-digit scorers, their opponents were almost equally ferocious, holding San Jose to just 47.1 percent shooting. Charleston continued to harass the ball, coming up with five steals.
The smothering defense by both squads was at its apex in the third quarter when both teams combined for just 16 points.
The game was typified by the All-League matchup at power forward, where Charleston's Boone Doggle and San Jose's Sagittal Occlusal held each other to a virtual standstill.
A desperation three-point shot the length of the court by Boss Driver of Charleston nearly went in at game's end. The shot, which would have tied the game, rimmed and went out.
