CHARLESTON ADVANCES TO TITLE ROUND

REBELS OUTLAST OKLAHOMA CITY
The Charleston Rebels will get a chance to defend their MBA title in the championship round thanks to a 87-76 Game 3 win against the upstart Oklahoma City Lariats.
Both the Rebels (Jonny Cockaroo) and Lariats (Gulemon Mon-Mon) were missing injured starters in this one, and in both cases the teams took advantage of the replacements. Charleston power forward Boone Doggle smoked Oklahoma City substitute Rudolfo Syndrao for 32 points to lead all scorers and Lariats center Titfur Tatt lit up Heater Van Meter for 25.
The Rebels, who established a playoff record in this one with 11 steals, broke this high-scoring affair open in the third quarter, doubling its four-point halftime lead. Moxie Mamalucco, coming off the bench for the Rebels, tied a playoff record for steals in one game with six, tying the Season 23 mark set by Dallas Hall of Famer Joey Two-Tones.
Charleston, which also got 24 points from Benny Gumm, will now advance to play San Jose, marking the third time in the past three seasons these two powerhouse clubs will meet in the playoffs.
