CHARLESTON REPEATS AS CHAMPS

VETERAN HALL OF FAMER JONNY COCKAROO LEADS THE WAY

SAN JOSE--The Charleston Rebels led from start to finish on the way to capturing their second consecutive championship, besting the San Jose Fighting Amigos 61-58 in a hard-fought Game 5 decider.
Tenth-year Hall of Fame center Jonny Cockaroo led the charge for the victors, scoring 10 of his game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter, where the big guy also snagged three rebounds and blocked two shots down the stretch.
The Rebels harassed the Amigos into 8 steals and just 46 percent shooting, outdoing the San Jose defensive stalwarts at their own game.
Still, San Jose closed the gap to 59-56 with six time units remaining when Cock A. Doodledoo (16 points) finished a 3-point play with a free throw. Four ticks later, 6-11 forward Tug Hershorts made it a one-point game, scoring inside for the Amigos.
But Charleston's All-League forward, Boone Doggle, completed the scoring with a bucket with one time unit remaining to seal the title for the Rebels.
The game started with an offensive burst, with Charleston getting 25 first-quarter points to 17 for San Jose, but then settled into another defensive struggle between the two titans.
The Rebels thus became the first Dave Masterson-owned club to capture back-to-back championships in MBA history. It's also the third consecutive DM team to win the coveted crown, an unprecedented accomplishment in league annals.
San Jose Hall of Fame forward Sagittal Occlusal was named Playoff MVP for the second time in three seasons to go with the three regular-season MVP awards he has garnered in as many years.

i hear that Sagittal Occlusal is unhappy with his contract and is looking for a Max Contract with the Iguanas on the side. Should make for an interesting turn of the tide!
