The two teams from Texas...the Dallas Demons and the Houston Iguanas won their respective divisions to get home court advantage in the upcoming MBA playoffs.
Finishing second to Houston in the East was the two-time defending champion Charleston Rebels, while the Seattle Stampede, picked to finish last in the West in the preseason polls, shocked the hoops world to edge San Jose on the last game of the season to make the playoffs.
Thus, Charleston (7-3) will take on Dallas (9-1) in the best of three round one semis, while the upstarts from Seattle (6-4) go up against Houston (8-2).
Dallas, which last won a title in Season 21, returns to the playoffs after a one year absence. The Demons are the only playoff team to feature a pair of All-MBA players in Mamadou Zongo and Max Payne .
Houston last won in Season 12, and also gets back to the post-season after missing last year. The Iguanas boast the league's best rebounder in Crash D. Bordz and rookie sensation Sunny Osiris.
Charleston has league MVP forward Boone Doggle, just added to the Hall of Fame. Doggle joins fellow Hall of Famer Jonny Cockaroo and Rookie of the Year forward Jimsy Redfern to give the Rebels a formidable front line in their effort to win a third-straight title. Only Philadelphia, in Seasons 22, 23 and 24 has completed the triumvirate.
Seattle has never won a title and last appeared in the playoffs in Season 25. All-League point guard Horn E. Goatweed led the league in scoring and will retire after the playoffs, along with two other Stampede guards, so it appears that it's now or never for the upstart club. Forward Kuch Kuch Hotahey destroyed the blocked shots record of 38, swatting away 46 shots this year.
