Season 51 Featured Game No. 5...Philadelphia at Charleston...plus bonus of Golden Team

Philadelphia 91, Charleston 71 (Slaughter rule enforced)

Phobia turns Mountaineers into Molehill

CHARLESTON -- Led by its talented young guard combination, the Philadelphia Phobia got off to an 11-1 run to start this showdown-for-first-place contest and were never headed in a 91-71 crushing of Charleston.

Philly is now 4-1 atop the competitive East Division, having avenged its lone loss (by 2 points) to Charleston. The Mountaineers enter the All Star Game break with a record of 3-2.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
35 GVP...The steady play of the tallest guard ever to play in the MBA exploded into fireworks proportions in this one, as 6-8 Philadelphia rookie VINNY ZAZEECH took it to Itsaka Numdrum of Charleston to the tune of a game-high 29 points. Zazeech was 12 for 18 from the floor, canning 2 of 4 from beyond the arc while going a perfect 3 for 3 from the foul line. The big guy also grabbed 3 rebounds, had 2 assists and 1 steal. Additionally, he teamed with fellow guard Ehhy Table to combine for 7 caused turnovers, three coming from Vinny. A lot of head scratching followed when head coach Stu Nod moved Table to the point, benching fan favorite Dickie Papers and inserting Zazeech into the shooting guard spot. Nobody is arguing with the bold move now.

Other 20-plus GVP performances
26 GVP...6-9 small forward Sheetrock Hudson led his Charleston team with 19 points while coralling 5 boards, handing out 1 assist and blocking 1 shot.

24 GVP...Hudson's running mate at forward Frog Morton led everyone in the game with 7 rebounds while scoring 16 points and getting 1 steal.

23 GVP...Philadelphia's second-year point guard Ehhy Table scored 8 of his 9 points in a second-quarter burst, but the strong 6-5 team leader handed out a game-high 8 assists, hauled in a team-high 6 rebounds and topped everyone in turnovers caused with 4. He destroyed his opposite Splash Gordon.

21 GVP...Hoping to make his first All Star Game, the super fundamentally sound D. Fenestration of Philadelphia scored 17 points from his forward spot, grabbed 2 boards, handed out 2 assists and tied for most points prevented in the game with 4.

20 GVP...6-11 center Taco Toosdae battled the taller Papa Popcorn to a standstill, scoring 14 points, grabbing 4 boards and adding 2 assists.

20 GVP...7-2 Charleston center Papa Popcorn scored 11 points, snagged 6 rebounds, assisted 2 times and blocked 1 shot.
