Season 51 All Star Rosters announced...All Star Game facts...Statistical leaders at the halfway point


 ALL STAR FACTS
--The East has won 31 times while the West has won 19 times

--The West has won the last two encounters; prior to that, the East had won 6 in a row.

-- The host city for this season's game is Los Angeles

-- Hall of Fame guard Jesse Shershot of San Jose now has 12 awards on his card, moving him up the Hall of Fame rankings into a tie for 23rd place all time with Tree Fiddy, Bill Rustler, J.J. Gargantuan and Rip Slamjam...a quartet of outstanding centers. 

-- Since Shershot will not be playing in the AS Game due to injury, this will mark the first time in memory that the AS Game will not feature a Hall of Fame player.

-- Shershot gets credit for being a starter this season, although he cannot play.

-- There are 9 first-time All Stars.

-- 7 of the 10 All Star Game starters are making their debut in the starting lineup.

-- There are 2 rookies who made the All Star Game...both are guards. 

-- Five of the six guards from Season 50's bountiful class of rookies have now made the All Star Game.

-- The forwards in the East Division experienced the roughest competition to fill the four allotted spaces. Eight of the 10 starting forwards in the East have GVPs of 20.8 or better.

-- The Milwaukee Greyhounds have the most starters in the game...3.

-- This will be the final All Star Game appearance for centers Quick Tink of Los Angeles and Papa "Pupa" Popcorn of Charleston. Both will be retiring at the end of Season 51. 

-- Uncle Bob Masterson and Tommy Zoop are tied for the most All Star Game MVPs with 3 each.
