Season 50 MBA All Star Game

West 73, East 65
WEST'S STRETCH RUN WINS IT
GILLETTE -- The 2,956 capacity fans who packed the small Gillette Humpdome were treated to a West Division 73-65 win in the first All Star Game held in the MBA's smallest and most remote franchise city.

The victory was the second in a row for the West, which still trails the East by a large margin, 31-19.

The East seemed very much in control in the first half, leading at the break 37-28, thanks mainly to rookie guard Juzan Djinn of Dallas, who had 19 points at the halfway mark.

But the West, cheered on by the roaring "home" crowd, took control in the second half, leading by a point after the third quarter. And in the fourth quarter, especially down the homestretch, the West took over, out-scoring the East 21-14, mirroring the first-quarter score.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Sixth season San Jose power forward EDDIE "THE MILKMAN" CREAMER captured his first All Star MVP award in this, his third star game. The 6-9 Creamer was a force inside, scoring a game-high 24 points on 12 of 16 shooting, including 3 thundering dunks. He also grabbed 4 rebounds and stole 1 pass.

Below is Creamer and a list of recent All Star Game MVPs

Other 20-plus GVP performers
-- Going toe-to-toe with Chochky Galumpkus all game, Los Angeles center Quick Tink was outstanding in his first All Star affair, scoring 18 points, grabbing 6 rebounds and handing out 4 assists.

-- Sacramento power forward Wardy Joubert III played the small forward position in this game, but that didn't stop him from swallowing a game-high 10 rebounds while scoring 10 points. He was one rebound shy of tying Hall of Fame center Bart Pitbull's record of 11 rebounds in one All Star Game, set in Season 20. The 6-9 Joubert also had 1 blocked shot, 1 assist and 1 steal in this, his second ASG. Joubert dominated Wawa Wewa.

-- Rookie guard Juzan Djinn of Dallas started his first All Star Game like a house afire, pouring in 13 first-quarter points that included a pair of treys. He had 19 points by halftime, but only scored 2 points in the third quarter while being shut out in the fourth. Still, his 21 points led the East and the 6-2 Djinn dominated fellow rookie Flufferton Springs. Djinn tied for most blocked shots in the game with 2, grabbed 3 boards and had 2 assists.

-- Dallas center Chochky Galumpkus kept the East close for much of the fourth quarter, ending with 18 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

-- Veteran Charleston forward Frog Morton had a good news/bad news game in which he scored 18 points, grabbed a team-high 8 boards, added 1 steal and 1 assist, but threw up 6 treys that went astray. Half of those came in the fourth quarter. "It's a damn All Star Game," he noted afterward. "If Froggy can't be a chucker during the All Star Game, what's the point?"

NEXT UP: Tallying the all star career stats. Then, the second half commences with the same match-up that ended the first half of the season: First-place San Jose (4-1) at fourth-place Sacramento. The Fighting Amigos dusted the R-Dogs 95-67 in their first meeting, thanks in large part to Cremeofsum Yunguy's 30-point game.
